ABOUT ABOUT

What is the first and best way to get involved in local politics in Philadelphia? Running for a commiteeperson seat in your ward.

Ward committee people are the political block captains of the local Democratic and Republican parties. Committeepeople represent their immediate neighborhoods--think two or three square blocks--and are elected every four years. The next ward committee election is May 2018.

There have been dozens of panel discussions over the past few years about why civically-engaged Philadelphians should run for ward committee seats in their neighborhoods, but this is the first workshop that will fully prepare you with all the tools and practical knowledge you'll need to win.

Our expert presenters will walk you through all the steps of running a scrappy local campaign on a shoestring, including getting on the ballot, identifying your win number, finding your voters, and getting them out to the polls. We'll also hear from experienced committeepeople about how to do the job well and maximize your impact.

Presenters include:

Adam Bonin, The Law Office of Adam C. Bonin
Jen Devor, 36th Ward Committeeperson
Felicia Harris, Influencing Action Movement
TJ Hurst, 30th Ward, Jefferson's List
Dan Siegel, Themis Strategies
Lauren Vidas, Hazzouri & Associates
and more TBA

Ticket costs cover all expenses, including walk-lists of supervoters in your division, personalized campaign materials, and food and drink.
